Our Director
Michele Walker, M.Ed. has worked in the area of elementary and secondary education for more than 30 years. She is a reading and curriculum specialist who has a wealth of experience working with students grades K-12. Ms. Walker worked as an assessment consultant for the company that developed the Stanford 9 Achievement Test and other statewide performance assessments. She began her career working for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) specializing in the areas of reading and second language acquisition. She always championed the idea of individualized instruction. She later became a master teacher for LAUSD. Her experience in education gives her an insightful perspective on new statewide standards and benchmarks. She continues to work as an educational consultant for schools in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Our Staff
West Coast Learning Center's staff of credentialed teachers and college students strive to provide excellent and compassionate service to our students. A child's self-concept plays a critial role in his or her academic development. Our tutors work individually with students to build academic skills but also boost confidence levels and self-esteem.
